Chris Levack - Austin BMX & Skate Park

Chris Levack's metal artwork was commissioned through the City of Austin's Art in Public Places Program. It includes "Iron Wave," a huge, tortilla chip-shaped skateable structure, and the leaflike "Trilobite Arbor," which will provide shade.

Austin Art Installations

Over the past few months, Dixi and I have been posting a picture a day to our blog Daily Austin Photo.

We try to take pictures of some of the more interesting and scenic spot that we visit around town. In the course of doing this, we came upon the Play Me, I'm Yours art installation involving 14 pianos located throughout the downtown area. We also came across the Southwestern Writers Collection stones located in front of the Palmer Events Center. I'm sure if we looked we would find even more installations, both permanent and temporary.

We decided that instead of showcasing those items on the Daily Austin Photo pages, we would create a new place to display these kind of things. We will try to concentrate more on the temporary and traveling installations, but will still feature some of the more permanent installations as well.

The next major installation coming to Austin is the CowParade Austin. CowParade Austin will be on display from Wednesday, July 28, 2011 – Sunday, October 16, 2011.
